Frequently asked questions

Will my order be hallmarked?

All pieces from Elizabeth Designs are handmade in sterling silver or 9ct gold.

When selling gold or silver jewellery which is over a certain weight, it is a legal requirement to have the item hallmarked. All sterling silver jewellery that weighs over 7.78g and gold jewellery that weighs over 1g should be sold with a hallmark. I'm very proud to have my own maker's mark. All my pieces that weigh over the legal requirement are hallmarked by the London Assay Office. You'll find my makers mark 'LEB' followed by the Traditional fineness mark. Millesimal fineness mark, the Assay Office mark and a letter, which represents the year.

Pieces that weigh under 7.78g (below the legal weight) won’t be hallmarked.

How should I clean my jewellery?

It is natural for tarnishing to occur to sterling silver due to the sulphides that’s found in the air and on our skin.

You can clean your piece of jewellery using a silver polishing cloth after each wear and keeping it with the anti tarnish tab provided. This will help keep your jewellery clean.

Do you fit my photo in the locket?

We always offer to send your silver locket complete with your chosen photograph.

To make sure you’re happy with the positioning of your photograph we like to take a snapshot of the photo locket which is emailed to you to check before dispatching your order.
